WOYWW #240

Hi to all and hope you are all recovered from the holiday break and not stuck in the awful blizzards that I see on the news that is hitting America and floods in England..
Wacky weather conditions at the moment for you all.
This week on my desk hmm let me see well there is my new google mug with some green tea in it.. I brought another of those stickles holders as I had enough to fill 2 of them..  My journal is there getting rather full now, this page was a fun one.. I was moving something on a shelf and a container I keep with bits fell down all over the table and I thought gee that looks pretty there.. So I scooped them all up and stuck them all down on my pages.. I then gesso'd over it all and painted with turquoise paint. It was lots of fun to do.. More info on the pages Here The owl from Eliza has popped on my desk to say hi, he's next to the modpodge. I received him in the mail over Christmas it was a lovely surprise..
As you know we live in the country well we lock up our chickens at night as there are foxes around we call this cage Fort Knox.. Well if you look at the bottom of the door here hubby was astonished to find a turtle stuck under the door when he was going to let the chickens out.. It was wedged in there tight too.. He took photos as he didn't think anyone would believe him.  He popped him in the vegetable garden to recover. Now this is the second one that has made it into our garden. We don't live near any rivers well not close that you would think you would have turtles popping by anyway.

Julia from  WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.

Have a great day.

Sandy :)

  1. You see, this is why I love WOYWW, seeing all the snippets that happen to people around the world! Thank you for showing the turtle..that is truly something that we'd never see here, lol! Poor old thing, well done for rescuing it....I wonder what it is in your garden that is so attractive to them???

  3. A turtle stalking the chickens? LOL! we used to have a frog that would sit right tight in the corner of step and door and I was always afraid I'd squash him but he survived. My journal keeping never survives, try tho' I may. Yours is looking lovely and a full one means you get to make a new one - If I could just make them and not feel like I had to fill them I'd be golden.... :)

    Happy WOYWW day!

  4. Hi Sandy
I am loving your desk today but more than that I am loving the fact that you dropped stuff from a shelve loved it so much you stuck it all in your book. Sometimes art just comes to you!

  7. My trip round the blogs is quite an international one today, which makes it even more fun. A turtle in the veggie patch is something very strange for us, and apparently for you too. Our weather today is forecast to be quite good in Worcestershire, but who know? We need flippers not feet to get round over here. Journalling is not something I have ever tried, but I love looking at them all and admiring the work and inspiration. thank you for sharing yours. xx Maggie #24

  12. Such a nice tidy, but busy desk you've got there. Love the turtle story, good thing he took pics. :-)

Here in Massachusetts it's a brisk 5° this morning. I'm staying in and sewing!

  13. Awww that is so awesome!! We lived in the country and we all miss our hens.. an we always had turtles show up too. The kids would use nail polish to put a dot on them to see if they came back.. they did. I was really funny. Thanks so much and bright blessing to you and yours, Roberta 47

  14. Hi Sandy, first, thanks for the kind thoughts to those of us in the US battling this crazy awful bitter cold! Thanks for showing us some snippets of your room, but I'm especially jealous of the stickles holder! Mine are all jumbled together in this big basket that make it impossible to find a certain color! 19. I love this post. That turtle brought back SO many memories. When I lived in Missouri (in the US), like you, I was not near a river or lake. But one day a medium sized turtle wandered onto my back porch. How it got up two steps is beyond me. I took it in and fed it until I could find a place for it to live, because at that time I had no veggie garden. Thanks for sharing this and thanks for the memories it brought.

Happy WOYWW from #5 and thanks for visiting me already.

  21. Hello lovely lady, nice desk and that owl suits it, he has a good home with the chickens and stalking turtle, how on heavens earth did he find his way to you all the way out there is beyond me, but he must want to live with you. Maybe he is trying to deliver a message, albeit a slow message LOL
