Tri fold card

I am shocking you with bright colours and doodling today..

I love adding all the tiny marks and doodling on my art work. It is so much fun.

So I cut a piece of watercolour card stock to size 5 x 6 and then lightly sketched a design of some flowers on there. Then using a pink and purple in watercolours I did a wash on the background. Sprinkled water and mopped it up to give some texture. Using some Neocolour II I coloured some book paper with scribbles in yellow and orange. Then added water to smooth it all out. I then used this for my flowers by cutting them into oval and circle shapes.

.

Using the Helmar Premium Craft Glue I positioned my flowers on the lines that I redrew with my black pen.  Adding some squiggles and circles around my flowers. Then I used a blue paint pen and white signo pen and filled in some of the lines.

I then cut my paper into 3, 2 x 5 inch strips. So I had 3 panels.

I backed each one with black card stock cut to 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 and using the Helmar Premium Craft glue I backed my watercolour panel on to the black cardstock.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 71/2 x 5 1/4 scoring it every 2 1/2 inches along the 7 1/2 side.
Using the Helmar Preium Craft Glue I attached my watercolour paper design.

Stamped my you rock word and backed it with black cardstock and glued that together with the Helmar Premium Craft glue
I really think my friend will enjoy my funky card and she does rock.

Have a great day

Letter Journals...

Thought I would put a few of the pages from the Letter journals that I have been working on in the last few months and pop around and say hi over at Paint Party Friday  Have you had a look at all the amazing art that is posted over there.. No!! Well follow the link and have a look around. Everyone is welcome and we love seeing what everyone is up to during the last week.

I had fun on these black pages at first I was a bit tricked then when I thought about how well the signo white pen works on black I just had fun doing lots of dangles.

Stamped on paper with my alphabet stamps and cut and pasted.

Always fun doing circles. Scribbled words around them.

More dangles added some Gelli plate printed hearts. I wanted to play with some Kaisercraft Die cuts. So I put them over the background and then painted and blended them in.
All paint used was Decoart Americana Acrylics, they come in some fabulous colours and such fun to use.

Have a great day

Art journal fun...

I have been busy in my art journal just playing with my Decoart Americana acrylic paints.

I just love doing circles and adding layers and layers of different paints till I get something that I think is done.

Adding lots of stamps and stencils is one of the best parts. I so love adding splatters of watered Gesso at the end such fun to do.

I have been using my mop up papers on my desk in lots of things lately and I used it in this one to add the petals for the flowers. Lots of doodling for the stems and this one I did live on Periscope. You can find the replay for it HERE at @sandybeachart.

Birthday Owl Canvas.

Hi everyone Vicki-Ann here for the Helmar Creative Team today. Recently my daughter had her birthday and every year I make her a small owl canvas instead of a card.

First I painted my background using 3 different Acrylic colours and a palette knife blending to get some variations in colours. I added clouds and the big flower adding white painted highlights.

Using the papers that I have on my desk I cut the owl shape and added that using the Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste and the paint and glue spreader. I add the Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste to the back of the paper and to the canvas and then spread out any bubbles. Once this was dry I added painted wings adding layers of paint to try and match the papers on the body. I added circles of the vintage book paper with more of the Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste  I then thought he needed a beak so cut some more paper for the beak. Once it was all dry I added eyes and painted the eyelids in a skin tone colour.

Once everything is dry I love to add tiny details and doodles. Mainly just squiggles and lines filling in with my Signo Uniball pen in white. I like to leave it all overnight to dry thouroughly then I add 3 coats of the Helmar Crystal Kote Picture Varnish Matte Spray This seals it and keeps it from fading.  My daughter loved her and I gave her a small wooden easel so it could sit on the shelf.

Have a great day

Letter Journals

I thought I would show you what I have been working on since September last year when I joined a facebook group for letter journals. It's been fun and I have met so many fabulous people. I joined this group and when I did I thought everything I do I am just going to have fun with. No pressure just fun stuff and I really have had some fun. Some letter journals have themes but the ones I love the most are just the free style ones that I can just paint what I feel like on the day. So here are some samples of the work I have done in the 5 letter journals that I have done so far. I love my Decoart Acrylic paints and think that shows up in my letter journals.

These are the 5 filled letter journals that I have filled with some lovely art work from all over Australia, America and Canada.

The following art is all mine that I have either done in my letter journals before sending them off or in other people's letter journals.

I made my own stickers with my printer and joined them up with some fun pen work.

Think this one is my favourite cover of a letter journal.

The theme to this one was inspirational quotes.

Spring themed letter journal.

I had these numbers on my desk from a Typo bag it was a bingo card so I cut them up and collaged them on.

Flower theme.

Painted some gum tree flowers for an Australian themed letter journal

I really enjoy this group and can see me getting quite a collection over the next year. I am currently in 3 more letter journal groups one international and 2 Australian. There is a maximum of 4 people in the group and it takes a few months for the international ones to get posted around.

Fun in my Art Journal...

In the last few months I have been very busy in my art journal. So thought I would add a few of the pages I have done on my blog.

I painted this with DecoArt Americana Acrylic paints and used a Dylusion border stencil for the triangles and the half circles. I loved the colours in this one.

Then well, it was butterfly time with some circles and a TCW stencil in the background. Lots of splatter fun on this one. The big flower at the side and the middle of the circles is collage pieces of my art, glued on with Helmar decoupage.

I have a thing about circles at the moment I just like doing them so this time more of my former art cut into circles. Then I joined them with lines and added words on the lines.

I just love to play in my art journal and I have so many more pages to add to my blog. I add them all on my Instagram page as I go. You can follow me there at sandybeachart.

Adding this over to Paint Party Friday. Hi everyone will be around to visit as many of you as I can
I always look forward to seeing what everyone has been up to.

Have a great day

Collage fun.

So I often get asked what do you do with the ICAD cards when you are finished with them. Well I like to copy them on my printer for collage. Such fun images to go in my collage art journals. I make the journals out of watercolour paper and have them for the size that they fit in my fauxdori. They are the Travelers notebook size.  I am in The Artstronauts Club it is fabulous for collage. Teesha is very generous with her wonderful collage sheets and I love cutting and piecing pieces together to make something new.

Thought I would show a bit of a progress shot in the picture below.
I got a bit stuck with this one and it was a few weeks before I came back to it and finished it off with the bird in the bottom left corner and the writing. More dots and lines a few more trees and it filled that big spot that at the time I had no idea what to do with.

It was a fun page and I have done another one that I will pop on my blog in the coming days,.

This is my Fauxdori that I made out of my old leather handbag. I just love the soft leather on this and I am glad I was able to reuse the leather. Its great to take with me in my handbag and slot different notebooks into as I need them.

Owl Wisdom and Helmar

This is a recent Art journal page that I had fun making for the Helmar Creative Team.

I painted my background just using a spatula. I just spread random colours of my favourite DecoArt paints over the pages. I added some stamping with a Prima stamp, newspaper print. Then in one of the same colours as the background I used the reverse chicken wire stencil to just give it some interest.

I drew the owl on some book paper in pencil that I had added a layer of Gesso and paint to. I spread the Helmar Decoupage and craft paste to the page and then on the back of the owl to glue him on the page. I did this to the hearts too just drew them on the painted paper cut them out and added them to the dangles on the left page.

I doodled around the owl going around him a few times and added some squiggles

I like to add dangles here and there to my pages. I added the quote in the middle as we all know that owls are very wise. This little owl started out on one of my index cards he was also on one of my Bookmarks a few weeks ago. I so enjoyed painting him that I thought he needed his own art journal page. Think he might have to go on a canvas next.

Hope I have inspired you to get out some book paper and a pencil. Draw some of your own little characters and add them to your next art journal page with Helmar Decoupage and craft paste.

I go into more detail with a list of everything I used over on the Helmar Creative Team page.

Wood Art Bookmarks.

For more details, photos and a list of items used check out the Helmar Creative Team page.

I have been raiding our wood box again.  We have a wood fire and we get wood off cuts from a friend who builds staircases. When the wood gets inside I am always finding bits that I want to paint on. This time it was these thin strips of wood.
They are approx 8 3/4 inches, (22 cm) length by 1 inch, (2 1/2 cm) wide. They are quite thin ranging from about 2 mm.

I sanded the edges first and then it was just a layer of DecoArt Media Gesso and I was ready to let my imagine take over as to what to put on them.

I painted a tree for the background of the owls.  Then I drew 3 owls on book paper and painted the inside, cut them out and used my Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste to glue them on the branches. Then when this was dry I drew the faces and outlined the owls.

I painted the cat and flowers with DecoArt Americana paints adding a little bit of stenciling with a TCW stencil for interest on the background.

For the third one I painted the background then used my Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste to glue some half circles of book paper on. Then I doodled around the book paper to make flowers.  I filled in the petals with white Gesso.

I then got the fan brush out and did splatters (fun stuff) with watered down white Gesso on 2 and added black Gesso splatters to the flowers.
I then sealed them all with 2 coats of  Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Spray this keeps them sealed and protected from fading, yellowing and dust.
I think this project would work well with those wooden paint stirrers too.
