My book came yay!!! woot woot... I have been so looking forward to playing with the lettering in the new Joanne Sharpe book 'The art of whimsical lettering'. So have been doing the exercises in the book and I am up to #4.. Its such a fun book there is so much more information than what I thought. So I am terribly pleased I brought one of my very own... So lots of markers and pens as it was time to experiment... Lots of fun being had, that the practice watercolour of the leaves got pushed to the side to finish another day... If you are wondering what that stick is on my desk here is a bigger photo of it..
Its my daughters wooden toy clothesline that has been in the top of the cupboard for years. I am using it to dry my Gelli prints, it works perfectly for that... I just had to restring and glue one of the arms back in.. The top comes off for easy storage when not in use... When someone said the other week when I was in such a mess with my Gelli prints. That I needed some where for them to dry, did I have a clothes horse.. I thought wait a minute I have this..
Julia from WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.
Have a great day.
Sandy :)
D'ya know...you never know what's going to turn up on folk's desks....I sure wasn't expecting a small clothes line!!! But isn't it perfect for the job in hand? Clever you - AND it's recycling too :-)
ReplyDeleteHow fab to just be having a play with something new - I like the sound of that lettering book, I don't seem to allow myself the luxury of just sitting and playing - I want to do more drawing for example. So, good for you - hope you enjoy the next few lessons!
And I'm glad you approved of the Portal cake :-)
Hugs, LLJ 47 xx
Ah I get it now, the thing on the bottom left is not attached. I couldn't work it out. A dryer (good idea for the print) and a thingy to hold your reels of tape.
ReplyDeleteHugs and thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet 14 xx

Great post, Sandy. I love your colourful desk which is full of interest. I've seen that book on Cloth Paper Scissors and thought it looked good! Your first efforts are fantastic. I love the mini-clothes line, and agree it's an ideal piece of kit for drying things, and nice and compact, too. I love WOYWW because you always learn so much from other people - lots of practical tips!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and your nice comment. Glad you like the knitting! It's a project that's long overdue for finishing! I'm enjoying working on it again but do need good light to distinguish the colours. As for the kitties, it's amazing how they always do that with my hubby, but not with me. They know he's a soft touch! Lol!

Thanks for the visit earlier Sandy. Great repurpose of the washing line. Your desk looks like you are having fun, I am doing an online card class right now and I love the challenge and learning new things. Cx #29
ReplyDeleteClever you - isn't it great when we find ways to recycle their toys? I have a book about doodling that is helping my lettering too. Thanks for stopping by! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #1
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really fun book. Your lettering looks great. And a very clever way to repurpose and old toy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek. Kyla#32
I like your washing line for your prints. A great piece of recycling there. Thank you for your visit today. I have taken it very easily since I got back, not watching several TV programmes which I had recorded. I suspect I might not watch a few more programmes this evening. Have a lovely time with your new book. xx Maggie #28
ReplyDeleteOh I have been so seriously pondering about getting that book! It would totally go against my whole "don't buy anything new" policy that is currently in effect, but hey . . . it would be worth it???
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your whimsical lettering, and if you decide you've had enough, I know somewhere you could send that book . . . ;)
Happy WOYWW,

ReplyDeleteWell isn't it funny how one remark can cause a genius of an idea to spring to your mind! the washing line is genius; made me laugh that you have it in the attic and ALL,it needed was a glued arm and restringing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, to use the clothes line! The lettering looks great fun - I bought a couple of books last year but just haven't had time to play yet. Enjoy your week, Chris # 35
ReplyDeleteI knew what it looked like but have never heard of a 'toy clothes line'. Interesting piece. I looked at that book last weekend and almost bought it. Just knew I didn't have time to play with one more thing right now LOL Creative Blessings! Kelly #82
