WOYWW #177

Hi everyone, well I have a question for all of you crafty people this week.. I was given this floral ball of flowers.  It was from a wedding that I went to a couple of weeks ago.  These where on the tables as decorations and this was given to me because they said I was crafty.  Well I feel like I have to do something with it and I haven't a clue..  They are big when they are separated from the ball..  Its not my kind of thing to just have out as a decoration.  Hmm maybe I could punch them into smaller flowers...
So here is my desk...

So as you can see they are quite big, I left my little peg magnet owls next to them so you can get an idea of the size of them.  They all pull out into these individual flowers with 4 petals and layers, with a little plastic holder. Sorry about it being around the wrong way but you get the idea..
So all, I am hoping you can help me with my dilemma as I am not one to keep things I am not going to use.
So now I am off to Julia's Stamping ground to have a peek at some desks to get some inspiration.. Every week I find several things that make me go WOW, I so look forward to my desk hopping Wednesday..

Best wishes to all of you that are dealing with the aftermath of the Horrible weather  that has been devastating the USA. Thinking of you all, stay safe..

Have a great day
Sandy :)

  5. Not a clue apart from stripping each one and recolouring with ink. Would the petals you stripped off be a flower on their own? I guess there are rather a lot anyway. Any children you could make a lei for?
Sorry I am no better at thinking and thanks for the visit last week when I was AWOL.

  6. Well you've set me thinking too. The petals can be stamped, coloured and trimmed and made up into smaller usable flower trims ... I'll keep thinknig!

  7. I'm sat reading my WOYWW blogs on my sick bed this week but have my mask on so you don't catch anything. I'm enjoying reading what everyone is up to this week [it's better than reading magazines :-) ]. I'm leaving a copied comment so you know I've called by because my hands are too weak and shaky to keep typing out my comments this week.
    Big hugs,

  8. Hmmm no ideas spring to mind biut I'll pop back if I think of anything. It is very pretty as it is and must have looked lovely at the wedding but I can see why you wouldn't really want it gathering dust in the house. Love your owls BTW. Happy Wednesday. :o)

  11. Goodness it is rather big isn't it? It's lovely when people ave things knowing you're crafty, but frustrating then to think you must do 'something' with them. Hope you think of something.

  13. Ha ha! I had no clue what to do with such a thing so I had to read all the other comments to see what brilliant things others came up with. So apparently we are all stumped!

Truly sometimes it is more of a curse than a blessing when people pass on "crafty items" to the "crafty people." You feel so obligated to do something with them.

    Love the owl pegs!!!

  14. OMG! I have no idea what to do with those huge flowers. Wonder if they could be collaged onto altered pieces. Can you spray them with Dylusions and change the colors? Oh my it is a challenge. I have a lot of crafty items bequeathed to me by well minded friends. I think eventually I will figure out what to do with it all...maybe not! Thanks for sharing and commenting by my blog! Have a great week! Vickie #37

  15. This is what I came up with.

I have been having fun making cupcake gift card holders. The first one I made, I made with ribbon, just like this video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkVm1Tif6gI.

It took forever, not to mention all the ribbon. Here is how it turned out.

Then I found some really wide ribbon and made it this way

Sorry about all the links. I think you will have to copy them and paste to see them.

So, I am thinking that these would be great on a cupcake! Especially since they are good size...

  16. They would be great on napkin rings..specially for the happy couple. Do you scrapbook? Use a few on a LO about the wedding, stick in a box frame and give it to the happy couple.....add some nicely double sided (card) framed wedding photos to a hanging length of ribbon with the ball at the bottom...to hang from a ceiling in a corner..in their house....in some way, try to give them back a few of them as a memento!

  17. Humm. If it were still attached to the ribbon hanger I think I would keep it to bash DH over the head when he was being difficult :) Otherwise no inspiration here!

    Happy day-after WOYWW

  18. Tricky isn't it? I'd probably take them all apart, decorate the petals and then put them back in a line to hang like a garland, maybe a tree decoration? You could intersperse the petals with twinkly bits.... any help? maybe not! I'm all for keeping things out of landfill, but sometimes you have to accept defeat! Thanks for stopping by my desk and your kind words x Chloe 106
