Listen to your inner voice.
This was no 6 in the course easier to number them for myself as I am so far behind and playing catch up. This is Donna Downeys Inspiration Wednesday course and I am having fun with Glazing fluid and think I am getting the hang of using it now. I used my favourite colours the Quinacridone Magenta and Cobalt Teal Hue. I did a bit of shading with the darker Cobalt Turquoise Hue all from the Media Line from DecoArt. Such pretty colours. I used the stencil, Affirmations from Dina Wakley another favourite. Love the words on this. For glazing the words I used Paynes grey. I have heard a few people saying how much they liked this colour so thought I would give it a try and yep I like it too.
I used some words from the stencil and wrote with my dip pen. Listen to your inner voice along the line at the side.
Have a great day
Sandy :)

Inspiration Wednesday...
I am playing catch up with my classes from Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday. Wont take me long to catch up now I have started again as they are only twice a month, so means I am only a few behind.
This one was quite a challenge there was skins to make and lots of texture. DecoArt Glazing Medium and lots of Matte Medium. I used the Modeling paste for the skins they turned out great, lots of texture on them. I tried to make them bumpy and not smooth. I really liked the way the Andy Skinner Children stencil worked on this one. I thought it was great that I had both the mask and the stencil to use in the two different ways. I also used the Media Line Texture sand paste in the background. I did not know how it would go with the glazing fluid but I like the way it looked with that beautiful DecoArt Media Line Cobalt Teal Blue. I used the Burnt Umber on the ribbon at the bottom and the Quinacridone Violet on the stencil of the children. Overall I was happy with the way this turned out and I used a few new techniques which is always good to do.
Have a great day

Paint Party Friday and Inspiration Wednesday...
This is No 4 in this years journey with Donna Downey and the Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. You will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along..
I found this one to be a very long process to get it done.. Think I am a very impatient art journaler and don't like the waiting for things to dry.. Because this has the modeling paste on both pages. I had to wait 2 days for this to be dry enough to pop the glazing fluid on. Did half one day wait to dry then the other page wait to dry.. Quite a process and a challenge in patience for me. It was quick after that though. I used the Dina Wakely stencil for the wording. The DecoArt media line Glazing fluid worked fabulous, with the Burnt Umber and Cobalt Turquoise Hue DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics. The stamps I used where a Kaisercraft one for the poppies and a Darkroom Door one for the fabulous quote.
Warning.... Lots of Baby wipes where harmed in the making of these Art Journal pages.
Saying hi to everyone over at Paint Party Friday
Have a great day

DecoArt and colour..

I am honored to be among all the other wonderful artist there, as part of this awesome program.
So onto some art. This is No 3 in this years journey with Donna Downey and the Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. You will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along..
When I saw this weeks video I went woohoo look at all that colour.. So out came my favourite turquoise and pink, so love them with black.. I thought hmm I think this week I might do a canvas to hang on wall, as well as inspiration journal pages.. This was fun all done with my fingers.. (No paintbrush was harmed in the making of these journal pages).. You really do get a feel for the paint that way. This was just so much fun to do. I highly recommend you pop the paintbrush away and get those hands messy even if its just the once.

I pressed forward and am happy with the way it finished up.. Quote is 'It's ok to colour outside the lines'..
I am happy that I did the canvas at the same time.. I really liked that I could practice in my inspiration journal and straight away put what I had done on the canvas. I can see this will not be the last time I do this..
Have a great day

Inspiration Journal...
Second one in my Inspiration Journal. I have joined the Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. So you will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along..
Lots of collage and digging in to my container of bits to see what I could stick on it.. I love tearing pages of music and book pages and trying to piece them together.. Then gesso and paint over it you just never know what you are going to get at the end, it is always a surprise.. I loved the pink and grey that I ended up with.. The reason I used pink is that I had this really lovely pink patterned tissue paper on it at the start.. I think you can see just a tiny bit of it now under all the layers of paint.. That's the fun of it all hey not knowing where it is going to go when you start.. The art wording there is my hand carved stamp that I was using the other day and you know how you prime them on a piece of paper and stamp to see if you have it inked.. Torn up and stuck there to add to the collage.. Fun stuff.. The quote across the middle of the page I just found in my container and it says..
Love will last forever. Give it freely without fear of being hurt..

Focus...
My first page of the year in my new Inspiration Journal. I have joined the Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday group for 2015.. So you will see my pages pop up fortnightly as I follow along..
Lots of Gesso and modeling paste using my Typo stencil for the glasses. Thought that fit well with my word of the year being Focus.
Had fun using glazing fluid that was tricky but think I got it with a bit of help from Tamiko McCurry and finding an alternative to it here in Australia.. Everything has different names when its not golden brand and in our Aussie brand of Derivan Matisse it is called Spreader medium.. Well that is what I used anyway.. It worked for me and I liked the result.. I rubbed too much off to start with, maybe didn't let it dry enough but I just added more and tried it again.. It was very forgiving. This was a lot messier than what I usually do so that was different.. I used a Tim Holtz stamp for my stamping under the inclusion. Had to have a brown hole tag so had to make that with a manilla folder scrap and used my new tiny attacher.. You can't do a Donna Downey inspired year and not have a Tim Holtz tiny attacher and brown holed tags with date stamp it just would not be right..
Tracy over at Mixed Media Monday the January Creative Dare was for us to pick a word for the year. So my word for the year is Focus. This was also a challenge in the facebook group of Mixing it up to find a word that you want to change or strive for in the new year. I think this word will really help me to focus not get too lost with all the information and groups that are out there.. So I want to focus on the now and not get to involved in too many projects and get overwhelmed.
Have a great day
