Courage...

Hi all, been painting in my Moleskine art journal. Today I went blue yep grabbed all the shades of blue and went tiling. Using the mini tile stencil. I first painted three quarters of the page in DecoArt Americana Blue Mist then I did the stenciling in Turquoise blue and Ocean Blue. Just by moving the stencil around it gave it a kind of as my hubby said a Sci fi look.  I just used all the blues on the left side in stripes and added some white. Then I got a credit card and made lines with the Black and White DecoArt Media Gesso. Rubbing the card to the side and pulling the paint to smear it. I added the quote. Courage is found from daring to begin. I think I need to make a bigger one of these so don't be surprised in the future, if you see it on a canvas.

Popping this over at Paint Party Friday and at

Have a great day

Embrace Possibilities...

More fun in my molekine art journal today. I love this colour palette and have been using these colours a bit in my art. But hey you can never get sick of colours you love can you? So today I used DecoArt Americana paints in Sea Breeze, Lemon Yellow, Orange Flame and a little Avocado Dip. What a fabulous name for a paint Avocado Dip.. I used Andy Skinner stencils Burning Rubber and Code breaker for my background. I drew the flowers added the DecoArt media line Gesso to cover up the background inside the flowers. Then I layered the colour up with the Orange flame and the Lemon Yellow. the stamps I used were from Finnibair. I really like how long they are and that they fitted well along the stem of the flower. Lots of splatters again, you can't have too many splatters, well I cant anyway.

I was inspired to do this by Nika in Wonderland. You can find Nika's youtube tutorial here if you would like to see it. I have seen many interpretations of this around but Nika's tutorial finally got me trying it.

Trying out a new watermark too. What do you think I should go with from now on?The top one so No 1 (goes across the middle) or the bottom one No 2 the one I always have had (at the bottom right corner).  Not sure yet what one to go with so would love your opinions.

I am linking this up with Paint Party Friday Hi all.

Have a great day

the little things they would talk about.

Layers...

On a Friday I go to my friends house and we art journal and try different techniques. Today I painted in my Moleskine art Journal. There is lots of layers I will try to describe what we did and what I used.

First I added some DecoArt Americana paint in Yellow Green, Lemon Yellow and Orange flame. I used the wonderful Andy Skinner stencil Tornado look how fun that swirl is.

Then I added some stamping with a Darkroom Door Paint splatter stamp. My friend had that awesome black swirl stamp so we both added that one.
I added a layer of glaze then painted over the top of that with white paint.
Rubbed the white paint back over a Donna Downey vine stencil with some alcohol rubbing fluid. Found a cute little bird and added that too.
Then when I got home I added the DecoArt Media line Crackle Glaze all over the top and let it dry for the afternoon. The cracks were still not showing up as much as I wanted so I grabbed some DecoArt Antiquing cream in the Patina Green colour. Rubbed over all the white paint part with my finger and let it dry a little. Then I rubbed it back with a baby wipe.

Had to take a close up photo for you of the cracks, they are awesome.
Added this wonderful quote by Mary Lou Cook.

Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing,
taking risks, breaking rules,
 making mistakes and having fun.

Popping this over on Paint Party Friday, Hi all.

Have a great day

What do you do with the Index cards?

So you have all these Index cards and I often get asked, yea but what do you do with them? Some people give them away. Some people pop them in boxes and look at them now and again. Some have them on coffee tables.
What do I do with them?
I use copies of them in all sorts of ways.
Do you want to see what I did with these copies of my index cards?

Well pop over to my post at the Helmar blog today and you can see
what I did with these copies of my index card and were this little guy ended up.

While you are there if you could leave me a little comment to say you dropped by I would really appreciate it.

Index Card A Day Week 3...

I have been playing along with Index card prompts and this is the third week done. This week the theme was really random. More info on what ICAD - Index Card a Day is check out all the info over at Tammy's. Tammy has it all sorted and so organised, just pop over to Daisy Yellow. Join in the fun as there is no rules. You don't have to follow the prompts you can just do your own thing. The point is to just do a little Index card art every day and have fun along the way.

No 15 Route 66
I used Andy Skinners stencil for the background
and the lettering made this card a very quick one to do.

 No 16 Greeting Card
I had been making happy mail and had these colours out
and just did the same thing on the index card as the happy mail.

No 17 Wabi-Sabi
I had never heard of this had to look up what it meant.
So a simple little watercolour, thought it fitted the ticket for this one.

No 18 Treehouse
I love drawing trees and it was fun to sketch a little tree in it.

No 19 Snowglobe
I have been drawing a lot of these little characters inspired by Tracy Moore.
Thought he fitted well inside the snowglobe.
I used a baby wipe and DecoArt Americana paints for the background on this.

No 20 Colour Wheel
I did a line drawing where you do a line and don't lift the pen.
Then I coloured it in with watercolours.

No 21 1970s
I tried to do a groovy 70s
coloured it in with watercolours had to add brown.
There was so much brown around in the 70s.

Well that is another week done. I will catch up with the other weeks in the next few days, as I am actually up to day 38 today. It's zooming along and I am enjoying the challenge of doing the prompts.
Have a great day

Ditto Project # 2...

Using my Travelers notebook art journal (it has watercolour paper). Today I set out to do more of the ditto project from Teesha Moore. Teesha gave us some collage in The Artstronauts Club and asked us all to use the same pieces of collage, do pen work and see what we all come up with. There is 5 pages and this is the second one that I chose to do.  I used DecoArt Americana in Wisteria. I blended it on with a baby wipe on the background just to give me colour. I changed the hair on the person on the left. My printer played up and put lines all through the red that was supposed to be there. So I replaced it with this bit of collage and then that inspired me to go all black and white. I added butterfly wings but that was the only changes I made.. All the rest is just doodling and adding words. Lots of spots and swirls they were fun. I liked the flowers and the way I could pop the words in between the lines. I enjoyed kind of anchoring my collage together with the web like lines and intertwining them. That kept me busy while I was listening to music this afternoon. I am looking forward to doing the next set of collage.

Have a great day

Splatters...

Today I had fun with splatters... Yes splatters and splatters and then yep some more splatters. Layers and layers of them.. What fun that was.. I used DecoArt Americana paint in True Red, Purple Pizzazz and Lamp Black. So just the three colours.  The Butterfly is from a Balzer Designs stencil. It got splatters on it too and I was going to do something else but I kind of liked the way the splatters went onto it. So I left it. Quote today is 'The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow stronger and sharper'

Linking this up over over on Paint Party Friday.. Hi everyone..

Have a great day

Cover up...

I grabbed my Dylusions journal, (Side note... I have only done a few pages in it so far and love the paper in it.) These are pages where I had been experimenting with Dylusions sprays. I used too much water and the page on the right went all funny, it pilled up, think too much water and then I rubbed it. Big mistake.  So the first thing I did was grab some book paper and cut it out to cover that up. Then I added Gesso to it all. It made it all a pastel colour as the Dylusions came through the Gesso. That was really cool.  I liked the effect of seeing some of the Dylusion sprays and patterns. I then went over that with a Lavender, Sea Breeze and a bit of the Orange Flame DecoArt Americana paint. I used the stencil Mini Mums from The crafters workshop with the Lavender. I then went around these with my Stabilo pencil and some Neocolour II crayons. Wetting them after with my waterbrush to blend. Grabbed a lid and added some Gesso to my craft matt and made some circles. I added splatters with my fan brush with Gesso and Black DecoArt Americana paint.  I used one of my pre printed quotes and added that on with Helmar's Tacky Craft Glue.

Have a great day
Sandy :)
