Pink...

I was recently given a few buttons (about 1000) so thought I would make a few cards to use some of them up.. I went looking for some inspiration and found this weeks Case study challenge.. I thought hmm flowers and groups of things. So what a better way than to go a bit shabby and add some machine sewing as well..  Paper doily, lace, ribbons and the lovely flower cardstock from Kaisercraft.  Lots of tea die stain and it was done..
I am really enjoying stitching on my cards.. All those years of sewing for the kids is coming in handy now..

4 Tags...

I was watching Limor Webber live on ustream last Wednesday and I was all inspired to make tags too.. So while I was watching, I played along and made 4 backgrounds.. I used lots of Dylusion's sprays on the Gelli plate for the backgrounds of my tags.  I just brought this very cool stamp set from Kaisercraft, Rewind collection. Great texture stamps, circles and arrows so was just what I needed for some layers. I used some stencils with the white Dylusion's ink.

This one on the left for some reason to me it looks a bit space age.

Today I gathered them up and started stamping some wording on them.. Then thought yep need some borders, added some Tim Holtz washi tape on one..

Had a really grungy look to this
one so had to punch some black
gears and stick on it..

This one for some reason looked
more delicate than the rest
so put butterflies on it..

So was great to get some tags done.. Which one is your favourite? I think I like the washi tape one the best.. Hubby liked the gears, what a surprise..

Recycling...

So I like unusual items on my desk to use for my crafting and this is my latest find.. Is it not the cutest little dog? His ears wiggle, he is supposed to be for Hors d'oeuvres. I saw this and instantly thought, wow that will be perfect to use for this...

So storing washi tape on his tail and drying rolled paper beads after glazing. He looks cute all spiky.

Love is...

Painted along with Tracy today at Mixed Media Monday... Tracy had some awesome new paintbrushes (will pop them on my wishlist)...Tracy used wide brush to do her background and had to kind of compromise and use my small one and lots of strokes.. It kind of didn't blend as well with the small one, so used a baby wipe to smooth and blend the brushstrokes a bit..  I went for a purple butterfly instead of orange and yellow and bubble wrap instead of a swirl stamp around my edges..

I also thought yep another go at practicing my new lettering.. This time I kind of made up my own.. Bit of Sandee's bar lettering with a bit of a swirl added to it..

So another fun day to be had painting, cutting and pasting.. Really enjoy adding my own lettering now.. The pencil and eraser are my new friends...

Have a great day

Rainy day...

I went along to watch Tiare, classygirl today and she was working on a Journal 52 prompt 'Rain or shine'. Its raining at last and filling my watertank, yay!!! So what better way to celebrate than to do a journal page with the Dylusions stamp Ruby Rainbow. I Coloured in Ruby with Dylusions inks and a waterbrush, while she was drying I got out my paints and did the background.  I used the Dylusions stencil 'diamond border' and the Balzer Design stencil 'Mini bubble doily'.

Then I thought ok, I need a quote. So I was talking to my friend Tamiko and she gave me this quote. "Let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy day". Perfect isn't it.. So I had to use the new Bar lettering from Sundays with Sandee on my page to have more practice with that.. Popped some raindrops on some dangles and the wind is blowing the umbrella with a stamp from Kaszazz.

So what a bright page it ended up being just perfect for the rainy day outside, because the rain is something I have missed, its nice to see green again outside...

Bar lettering...

I am playing along with Sunday's with Sandee at Frosted designs. Every third one of her video's Sandee does a new lettering style, last time it was Track lettering this time we have some Bar lettering. I love youtube instructional video's. You can pause, rewind and watch it over a couple of times.. So I had the pencil and paper out at the computer after about a minute of watching Sandee. I had my alphabet done and had not watched the end.. I thought it was the best video, so easy to follow.. So if you want to learn too, pop over and take a peek.  Add some block lettering to your next card or scrapbook page...

So first I practiced all the alphabet on some graph paper.. Then I picked my quote that I wanted to use and practiced that..

Then I got out my new journal for lettering styles, I wanted to keep them all in the one so that I have them for reference.. Thought that was the perfect quote for the start of a new journal.. I doodled some flowers and made a spot in the middle to pop my quote. I used Dylusion inks to colour and had to pop some dangles and the black and white border.. This was such fun and after the practice and doing this with pencil first, I found that the lettering was a lot easier..

WOYWW #253

My book came yay!!! woot woot... I have been so looking forward to playing with the lettering in the new Joanne Sharpe book 'The art of whimsical lettering'. So have been doing the exercises in the book and I am up to #4.. Its such a fun book there is so much more information than what I thought. So I am terribly pleased I brought one of my very own...  So lots of markers and pens as it was time to experiment... Lots of fun being had, that the practice watercolour of the leaves got pushed to the side to finish another day... If you are wondering what that stick is on my desk here is a bigger photo of it..

Its my daughters wooden toy clothesline that has been in the top of the cupboard for years. I am using it to dry my Gelli prints, it works perfectly for that... I just had to restring and glue one of the arms back in.. The top comes off for easy storage when not in use... When someone said the other week when I was in such a mess with my Gelli prints. That I needed some where for them to dry, did I have a clothes horse.. I thought wait a minute I have this..
Julia from  WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.

Have a great day.

Aussie notecard swap March

Aussie notecard swap time and the March theme was Steampunk. So gathered all my steampunk appropriate bits and pieces and the Tim Holtz district warehouse stamps..   Distressed edges lots of walnut stain and started scrunching paper soaked with water for the first layer. I had already stamped a world map on it, so it bled and went all just how I wanted it too, streaky and old looking.. Stamped some card stock with a different map stamp and then the wonderful steampunk 3 men with the hats went over the top of that in brown ink. Its handy having a hubby with lots of washers, so tied one of those on with some string over a punched out gear.  More stamping, distressing and machine sewing around all of the edges.. Added a gear from the Tim Holtz Ideology collection and a metal key from K & C company. Added some brads and a paper clip so just a bit more metal.
So that was a lot of fun.

Challenges 4 Everybody #40 DT

So, for our April challenge at Challenges 4 Everybody (how fast is this going?!) We have 2 combined sponsors The paper nest dolls and Sherri Baldy.
As always its anything goes so get those entries in for a chance to win our randomly drawn Monthly challenge.

I made myself a small journal that I can slot in pages just by punching some holes and threading in.. I like to do some things on separate pages so thought this would work well for me. Its a wooden Kaisercraft journal, this journal is supposed to have 4 wooden dividers but I only used 2 of them thought I can use the other 2 to make another journal with. I used a 6x6 paper pack from Authentique to decorate I stuck them down using Helmars decoupage glue. The flowers and letters are from Tim Holtz die cuts I used the Helmars 450 Quick dry adhesive for the leaves and the Tacky craft glue for the birdcage..
Punched some eyelets to thread ribbon though and decoratively cut the inside edges. Popped some Kaisercraft words on some labels, create, dream and wish. For the inside pages I just backed the lovely paper with white card stock so I have 4 dividing pages inside.

Just popped some leftover strips in here with a clip so I can decorate some pages.

I just left the wooden back plain but used more of the paper to cover.  Its a very simple journal but will work well for me.  I left room on the front to add -15 just in case I use it next year too...

WOYWW #252

So whats on my workdesk a big mess of all sorts of things as I do one thing and push it to the side to do another.. Than go back and forth.. So bead rolling probably taking center stage right now as I go through the little pile of cut out strips that are left.. Then they are left to dry overnight on my mat. They then make it into the green tub there on the left ready for glazing.. Some little Gelli plate deli paper bags that I am going to do a little bit of stamping on with some of my hand carved stamps on the left.  Finished card for the art aMUSEment group, with a stencil that I have not cleaned off yet.. So the prompt was 'Clue' So I put a riddle on it.. Can you guess the riddle? The answer is Here if you need to know..

Week 13 Clue...

This week at Art Amusement the prompt is 'Clue'. So straight away I thought question mark???  ok so what next I need a riddle to solve so I googled Riddles and what a perfect one popped up there for me to do... So used one of my Deli paper bags and made a little hidden pocket. So the answer to the riddle is in the pocket, just follow the arrow... Click to make it bigger if you cant see the riddle...

Now
deliberately
popped
the
answer
down
further
so
that
it
didn't
pop
straight
up
on
the
screen
at
you..
so
scroll
for
the

inside

Did you get it without the answer?

So some details here about the facebook group called art aMUSEment, it is run by Kelly Hoernig.  Its a fun group and this year Kelly came up with the idea of picking 52 cards of the same size and doing a card with a theme every week so thought this would be a fun thing to do so I am going to join in. Well as many times as I can.
Here is a Link to the video that Kelly popped up on the facebook page. Take a look and maybe you might like to join in too..
