Gelli plate printing with Deli paper

So what did I do with all those Gelli plate pages with the Deli paper or as we call it in Australia greaseproof paper and book papers, that I got carried away doing..

I made some bags from it from a tutorial at Balzer designs... These I further stamped with my own hand carved stamps..

Some doodled deli paper and book paper flowers from a tutorial from Sandi Keene

and some rolled paper Beads from Jenibellie's (Massive) paper bead tutorial... I rolled maps, cardstock and the deli paper is the bottom 2 its hard to cut into strips without it tearing but its achievable with a bit of care.

So lots of fun had and finding that I have a nice little stash of things to pop on future projects now..
Popping this over at Terry Sproul's facebook page, this weeks challenge to use the Gelli plate..

Letter Fun

So I am in a group with Joanne Sharpe on facebook and we had to get a book with lines in it and decorate the cover.. So today I had just a few Gelli prints around on my desk so thought ripping up  time.. So tearing 2 sheets of the deli paper into pieces and modpodge in hand I started gluing.. I then did some of the lettering that I have been practicing and wrote "Letter fun" and doodled a border and some flowers, coloured them in with dylusions ink..

Jennibellie Inspiration journal...

I joined up with Jennibellie's Journal workshops group on her new web site.. I made a journal following her great instructions.. I have been making paper beads and glazing them. Drawing owls and flowers cutting and pasting, doodling, lettering and more..

So will start at the front cover.. I drew a snowy owl on the front as Jennibellie said on the video to put your own art in it to make it more yours..  So some dangles and some of Sandee from In the hills of North Carolina track lettering that she has been teaching went on my cover.  Brad to keep it closed with a flourish. Some of my handmade paper beads threaded on some pretty fluffy wool..

My friend Helen gave me a lovely card I loved the texture of this paper on the left at the bottom of this page it is so silky to touch.. So I cut the card all up into pieces flourish, dragonfly and the wording. I love the wording here what this is all about really.. Do what makes you happy..  The girl is Jennibellie inspired the first face I had ever drawn so thought this was the perfect place to keep her.. Tim Holtz owl and moon and some washi tape and lace...

So the other one of my drawn owls this one I thought he kind of looks a bit sad so popped a pretty flower on here to brighten him up with some dragonflies.. Jennibellie inspired flower saw her do this on a recent journal page so did a few to pop here and there..

Kind of a black and white theme here with the bugaboo image on the left Quote on here is 'Do all things with love'.  A copy of one of my doodled ladies I fussy cut out and put in.. More dangles on the top..

So we come to the end and this is one of my Gelli prints that I popped through the printer with the butterfly from Oak pond creations.  Some sewing on a quote from my typewriter 'A wish is a memory you still have to make'. A Tim Holtz movers and shapers flourish that you would have seen here and there..
So that was a huge post for me to do think its the biggest one ever and if you stuck through to the end hope you liked it..

Will link this up with Jennibellie's journal work shops
Addicted to stamps Make your mark
I started this whole thing with purple being my Journal 52  Color swatch inspiration its just taken me a few weeks to finish it..

Stars...

Today I was watching Tiare having her pajama party at Classygirl. So it was time to get the journal out and have another paint along with her.. Only 7 pages left and this journal is full, so every opportunity to get it out is good.. So Tiare was using soft pastels and I have only ever used them for drips, never for colouring a page or background, so I have a 12 pack of colours so picked the blues.. Hmm was I happy with them? They are great for a background with lots of water, Tiare said to dab the brush so you don't get brushstrokes.. So dabbing did work much better.. I wanted to use some purple for the next layer and did not have purple in my pastels so turned to the Caran d'arche neocolour 11 crayons, I have a lovely purple in that one..

Next 3 stars out of paper ok hmm I had some dictionary pages that I had used to mop up some ink sprays with, so ripped them up into 3 stars.. Went around the edges of the stars with charcoal pencil and blended.. Little stars with the signo black pen coloured in with the white signo.. Quote is 'Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them but you always know they're there.'

Going to enter this in for my Journal 52 Stars.
Have a great day

WOYWW # 250

Different angle of my desk today as thought you would like to see Misty on my desk, bit blurry but she was wriggly.. There was very little free room on it but she did find one little spot to stand before jumping off to go elsewhere to explore..  So what else in on my desk? Some watercolours and the little owl there on my journal that I made, will link it up on my blog when the beads that are there drying are done. They only have the first coat of glaze, as they are going on the side of it.  Some art books I borrowed from the library.  One of my doodled ladies waiting for her wording to go on there.. Journal shelf and ribbons and my cart under the desk.. So lots going on, think I am up to no 8 of the doodled ladies I am enjoying doing the faces and doodled hair..

Julia from  WOYWW gets us all together every Wednesday to have a look at desks from all over the world.. Grab a cuppa, I have mine here, and take a browse.. Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy the blog hopping around all the desks.

I am...

So after yesterday's 'Just be' lettering, I thought ok well more practice is good.. So I thought I would enter this over at the challenge for Tracy at Mixed media Monday for her 'I am' challenge this month... Also I had to enter over at Frosted Designs for Sundays with Sandee for the track lettering Sandee has been teaching us.. Its along the side there in the border how the letters run along.. Its so tricky your letters so want to go up and be loopy and not stay in the darn line..

I think I am getting the hang of the smaller words in the different style.. Different flowers on this one, they kind of look like little roses so cute. They are from the whimsical lettering from Joanne Sharpe..  So lots of things altogether to make a journal page that was more fun and more learning.. Watercolour H2O's and black pen and the signo white pen too here and there for the doodling..

Have a great day

Just be...

I joined another facebook group this one is called. The art of whimsical lettering with Joanne Sharpe and this week the challenge was to write the words 'Just Be'. There was so much inspiration so thought ok lets have a go at this..

So first I sketched on graph paper just to play around with a different style of lettering.. Then on to the watercolour paper I sketched a layout of what I wanted to do with pencil.. Next I coloured in with my watercolour sparkling H2O's, I just love sparkle.. To finish off and bring out the details I went all around it with my black pen adding some doodling.. It was great to try out some new lettering its something that I need to practice and learn new ways to write.. Always love an excuse to get the watercolours out.. I also popped Sandee from in the hills of North Carolina tracking lettering at the side there in the border to keep practicing that lettering too..

Have a great day

Patience of Nature...

Today Sandee from In the hills of North Carolina did a great drawing from a picture of crocus.. I so loved the picture I asked if I could use her picture and do a sketch in watercolours.. Now I have never done a sketch from a picture of real flowers before and think this is the perfect way to finish the very last page in my much loved watercolour book..
I even tried some swirly lettering, as always I love to try something new to me..

Sandee Setliff's photo.

Its Paint Party Friday's 3rd blogaversary so joining in the fun this week by linking up my flowers..

By the Sea...

Joined in live with an art journal Pajama party.. Although its the middle of the day and I wasn't in my Pajama's it was fun to paint along.. Tiare at Classygirl said at the start to picture in your head somewhere peaceful and take that as your colour choices.. Well my peaceful place is the sea so blue's lots of blue's where taken out to use.. I got this great stamp set that I have been dying to use called By the Sea by TJ designs rubber stamps by Tweety Jill.. So it was fun to paint along in my fun journal and just have a good time getting paint on paper.. I had not used this for a few weeks so it was good to get it out and get some more paint in it..
I sewed with the hessian and linen for the background of the stamps and made them into a bit of a line of girls, I liked the way the three of them look altogether like that.

The girls kind of look a bit washed out but they just look more faded and aged to me.. They are stamped in vintage photo ink..

So always good to have another journal page done and get some paint and glue on me..

Going to link this up at Addicted to stamps This week its Anything goes.

Be...

So here is another one of my doodled girls.. Tried a swirly nose this was such an easy nose to do and thought it kind of suited the doodled part, also different eyes and mouth and even different shaped face to this one.. She is winking at you so thought the words around the outside suited this.. Be silly, Be honest, Be kind.. She has flowers in her hair too kind of like those.. I also didn't colour in her face this time, kind of liked it just like this.. More watercolour H2O's, loving these colours and the great sparkle they have..

Going to pop this in at Paint Party Friday I know its late but love peeking at all the great work everyone has on there..
This is also for Journal 52 week 9 Colour swatch inspiration..

Drawing with Limor

I watched Limor Webber on Ustream live and she did an amazing drawing of a girl on a beautiful bright background. So I had to have a go and join in as I am in this drawing faces mode at the moment.. I should join in on that 30 faces in 30 days think I have just about done that.. Here is the youtube Link to her video so you can have a look and maybe give one a try too.. I did not have the pencil that Limor used but I did have a black Derwent Aquatone and found that worked ok to try this out.. I also used my twinkling H2o's for the background colouring..  So was a bit of fun and a lovely way to spend some time learning something new..

Week 10... Intermingle

Well as I am hooked on these doodle girls at the moment when the prompt for this week's Art aMUSEment was 'Intermingle' I thought well what could be a better card for this than all those lines intermingling..
I cut my card out in the watercolour paper the same size as the cards I have been using.. I was not sure if I was going to colour her in and then decided that I would just do a few splashes here and there as she is a lot smaller than the other ones that I have been doing.. I used a finer pen for this one to add the tinier lines and details.. It was great practice to do the face smaller..

She Believed...

So number 3 in my doodle lady series, yes and I have another on the way so there are going to be a few.. This one has flowers in her hair quite like those..
I came across this great quote today... "Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if its good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding make more art."  by Andy Warhol.
I don't know when I am going to stop doing these, but know its not yet. So I will just keep going...
I have linked this up with the Addicted to stamps challenge its a photo inspiration.. On the 8th of March its international women's day and the lovely Darnell from djkardkreations is a guest designer this week so wanted to join in the fun...
