Challenges 4 Everybody DT #30

This week we have a new sponsor at Challenges 4 Everybody
The wonderfulSherri Baldy .
So come on and join in the fun with our Anything goes challenge and you could win 5 pre selected images for you to use.. I just want to take this opportunity to say goodbye to Joan and Vicky who are stepping down from the design team. I will miss you guys and your wonderful creations..

This week I made a tag, it was so fun to make.. I used a few things that I have been trying out like rolled flowers with dictionary pages.  I then added some little pink pearls to the centres. I am typing with my old typewriter, on the smaller tag. So great to be getting some use of the old girl. I embossed trees in the background to try to get some more layer and depth into my tags. I think that is coming together from my experiences with mixed media. I am liking sewing on everything at the moment so this got its edges sewn..
This tag was also for the Aussie tag swap I am in, where the theme this month was 'Peace'.
I love the quote, funny how quotes just jump out at you and say pick me, pick me.
'Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time'
By Lyndon B Johnson.
I am going to enter this in the following challenge.

WOYWW #225

Just doing a bit of doodling on some watercolour flowers in my little journal. I so enjoy this part of it, looks so different once I put all the little outlines and doodles on it.. This is one I painted when I took my little travel kit I made up.. I painted this on the deck of the cabin in the caravan park we stayed in was such a lovely spot to paint. Cuppa sunshine and watercolours bliss..  I received some mail I ordered and have already stamped and painted one of the wonderful Dylusion's Ruby rainbow stamps isn't she cute.. I just have to pop her in my journal or maybe a tag and in my journal.. I will have to work on a pretty background for her.. I also went to the new Kaisercraft store today and topped up on a few more paints and the brickwork 12 x 12 stencil I have had my eye on.. The new store is awesome they have heaps of new paints and now sell watercolour paper, journals, Gesso and moulding pastes all at the one store yay, makes it so much easier.  Looks like they might be putting on some more classes too now of the painting type..

Just to leave you drooling this is a cake I made recently for my daughters birthday just in case you missed my last blog post. I thought I would pop it here for  the WOYWW people as we all like to look at yummy food too, this was really yummy.. 2 layers of brownies and 2 layers of icecream with peppermint crisp and melted chocolate over the top.. Grown up Ice cream cake.. They have all put there order in for this one for Christmas, will be perfect as it gets quite hot here..

Bits and Pieces...

Hi everyone well I have been wanting to post a few of the things that I have been doing so thought I would put them altogether and just tell you a bit about them..

Adult version of ice cream cake..
This cake was so yummy My daughter wanted an ice cream cake for her birthday so this is what we came up with. It is 2 layers of brownies and 2 layers of ice-cream.  With the ice cream layers I actually let a 4 litre ice cream tub slightly soften and then cut it into the circle shape and layers then refroze.. You have to do it quick and I tell you what it freezes your fingers.. Over the top I put mint chip ice magic chocolate, that you melt and then pour over and it hardens.  Well I have had requests now that this is the go to cake for birthdays so easy..  Oh peppermint crisp crumbled over layers and over the top.. Thought it would be hard to cut but it was fine with a warm knife..

This is a cape I knitted for my daughter it turned out really great and she loved it. It was really thick chunky wool.. Was so quick to knit but tricky to get the right size needles a few tension squares later and I hit the right ones.. I loved the blend of colours in the wool, but I am fond of blues..

Playing with watercolours.. The quote is.. We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are.. Max De Pree..  I do like some bits of this and I always find it relaxing with my watercolours.  I am getting better about writing on my projects after all it will only get better with practice..

So there is still more bits and pieces that I have to post up but this will do for today.. Have a great day
Sandy :)

WOYWW #224

I wasn't around last week for WOYWW I missed you guys.. We went on a trip for the week to Phillip Island.. So when we where not exploring and walking, I was collecting pamphlets and tickets from the places we visited so I could pop them in my new smash book. It was quite fun to have something to do with them.  I took the box on the right with a heap of bits and pieces that I had printed out before I went.. So just sat when we got back to the caravan at night and cut and pasted them into some kind of order, I really liked it, was quite relaxing.. I still have more to do. I want to make a flip out one of this pamphlet from the quarantine centre in Sorrento, Its from when the ships came through the heads if you had diseases on board you had to stop here back in the days of tall sail ships. So that's what's on the agenda to do while its all still fresh in my mind.. I will do a separate blog post for my trip of some photos of the highlights. The penguins where the highlight for me they where just so cute.

I am not really one for collecting souvenirs of places so this was what I brought when I was wandering around the shops..  The butterfly stamp is hand carved the lady said it works best with acrylic paint well that will be perfect for my new Gelli plate.. I loved these letter stamps they are so tiny and just the perfect size for on cards when you just cant find those perfect words.. Stamping sayings in the smash book yep will get some use out of these.. Chevron washi tape yes what a find.. Unusual souvenirs but ones that will get used so perfect for me..

Had to leave you with one picture of the beach, this is just over the dune from the caravan park where we stayed walked along here every day so peaceful, I was always the only one there..

Challenges 4 Everybody DT #29

Well its time for a new challenge over at Challenges 4 Everybody.
We have as our sponsor this week Bugaboo stampsIf you link up with your entry and you are randomly picked, you get to pick 7 free digis of your choice. So come on and join in the fun as always, its Anything goes.

This was a great image Love Blocks with love what a variety of things you can do with it.. My first instinct was to go red but hey, I was daring and went Blue..  I left it quite plain but used a bit of bling with blue stickles.. I love using stickles every chance I get, what girl doesn't like a bit of sparkle!!  I really have a bit of a spot thing going on at the moment, so yes the blue spotty ribbon was just the thing..  The blue cardstock is textured so thick and love that bit of texture. Bit of corner rounding and that was it finished..
Well this just sounded like a fun challenge to enter all my favourite things all together in one challenge..  Hmm think I would have to add paint in there though :)...

Have a great day..

Be Happy...

Experimenting in my journal, I did a two page spread and I so like the top of the right side, bigger photo below.. I like those turquoise spots at the top, its funny how you can pick out a bit on a page and you go yes, I like that bit.. The purple at the top on the left turned out quite cool as well.. With this it was all over the place, please don't ask what I did because it started with just wiping off paint on stencils on these pages.. The words are stickers from Kaisercraft, love the variety on this pack.  The circles I did with Gesso and went around them with my new nib pen and ink. I am finding that works best over paint..  I really wanted to try using the edge of a card for the lines.  I had seen a few people doing that and I liked the way it looked, so these were the pages to try that.. So lots of experimenting, always fun to try new to me techniques.

Going to enter this at the following just for a bit of fun..

WOYWW #222

I have been doing lots of journaling in both my watercolour and my other mixed media journal.. Tried out a few of those new stencils in the background, so just experimenting with the paint and having a bit of fun with colours.. I always try to tell myself that it does not have to work everytime I do something, as I am just learning, and to have patience at this time with my experimenting..  So I just try to just plop it all on and try different things.. I used the edge of a card with this one to make the cool black lines. Got to take some photos of this and do a blogpost so will be doing that next..

Challenges 4 Everybody #28 DT

Well 2 weeks has rolled around and its time for a new challenge at
This week we are sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs
 Have you joined in yet?
As always its everyone's favourite Anything goes.

This weeks card was one I made recently for my son's birthday.  I was really stumped thinking about what I was going to put on his card.  I then just thought about all the things he likes.. Well that lead me to gathering up all these stamps that I had of the things he liked.  Darts, beer, games on the Xbox and then the tyres well that's for the 4 wheel driving.. I just stamped all the related stamps on to a sheet of white cardstock and made my own background paper.  I then stamped the tires going over the top, backing it with the black cardstock and popped that up with dimension pop dots. He liked the card, I find cards for men the hardest to make. All the stamps where free ones I had from stamping magazines.  The Happy Birthday was from Stampin'up.

I am going to enter this at the following,
