One more valentine

This one has been on my desk for a week with just the heart panel done.  Everything I tried just did not look right.. When I was doing the other valentine cards and I had the intrinsic embossing folder out I had one of those aha moments and it all just clicked..  I did try to put the crossgrain ribbon on it but it was just not right and I am so glad I went for this white swirly one..  It tucked into the decorative brad really well to form the bow.  I used 2 punches for the panel the Stampin'up scallop square punch and my old Creative memories heart punch.. It fitted so well in the middle.  The little heart and love are from the Stampin'up set tiny tags so cute and just the right fit. Popped it all up with dimensional and  3 little pearls at the left and it was done.

Close up of the heart panel..

So 3 cards in the one day I was on a roll, it must have been the rain that finally fell and I wasn't able to get out in the garden today.  My garden is happy we had 24 mm of rain this afternoon since we have only had 2mm in the last 6 weeks this is very welcome.  Hope it hits the fires in Harrietville in Victoria and puts the darn things out..

I would like to enter this in the following challenges.

Valentines day cards

I have been making a few valentines day cards.  Got to use my bird and owl punches so that is always a bit of fun..  I know they are the same, but it was fun to do and I had to use the owls, but think I do like the birds better.  I so love the Raspberry ripple and I matched it up with Marina mist both from Stampin'up. The Designer series paper was Polka Dot Parade. I used the Tim Holtz movers and shapers die for the branches.  Ribbon was Kaisercraft it was the closest match I had to the red.  I do like crossgrain ribbon I am getting quite a collection.  I hand cut the heart and embossed it with the intrinsic embossing folder it is my favourite so pretty.  Watch out for the other card still to come..

So here are my cards...

I would also like to say a big hi to Tammy who has joined as a follower here at lonely cards.. Welcome Tammy hope you have a peek around and enjoy your stay..

Hi all, I am still poking around with a few valentines day cards and trying out a few different techniques with some tags.. There is markets and lots of food stalls, such a fun day we always go for a wander around.   Thought some of you might like some sunshine as it looks so cold and snowy in a lot of your pictures.
 Love these old sail boats..

Owl barn calendar 2013

I was very excited when I found this link to the wonderful owl calendar for this year.. Its a Free download, I remember I downloaded it last year and so loved all the lovely owl art works.  There is 43 pictures on the website and you just pick what wonderful picture of the owl you want, for the month that you want, then download.  I print it on to cardstock and cut it out and make a little stand for it.. The owls are just adorable and the hardest thing is making the choices of what one for what month..

Jo James of the blog The cart before the horse Has one of her beautiful owl pictures included in the calendar.  Drop by her blog and say hi and take a peek around her amazing blog.

The link for the calendar is here at  My owl barn.

Remember to grab the calendar button, and share the love..

Have a great day

WOYWW #190

I have been making flowers with my new Tim Holtz Tattered Flower garland die cut.. I am so happy I bought this die it makes it so easy to make them as the little holes are already in the middle.  I have been inking edges and curling and crumpling..  I have also been making a tag someone asked last week that I show them so its hanging up there. Its the one with the little boathouses. The other one is from Judith from the 'Aussie 12 Month tag swap' that I have joined this year trying to challenge myself to do different things. More details here.
Eliza from WOYWW Queenartoypia her daughter Myreen and I got together last week and went shopping at the Kaisercraft warehouse It was so much fun, then we went to the Chocolate factory for lunch fantastic coffee, chocolate and more of the wonderful lemonade scones.  The clear stamping blocks on my desk are from Eliza she cut them out, isn't she clever to be able to do this.. I only had one of these so going to make my stamping a lot easier now.
So here is my desk...

So you don't have to squint..

Cool Water's

I have joined the "Aussie 12 months of tags 2013" swap organised by Judith  of creative studio. The first swap I had to send a tag to Eels of Craftee owls. I have never actually made a tag before I even had to go and buy some as I didn't even have any. I had so much fun though and I am so glad I have joined this swap as it is making think outside of my comfort zone..
So here is my January 'Cool Waters' tag..

I used the Tim Holtz picket fence distress paint on the little boat houses stamps I cut out, to make them look a bit washed out. The sun has been stickled with gold and used some blue embossing powder for the water.. The sky is more distress paint and the boat house and footsteps are stamps from Kaisercraft.. The image of the girl with the bucket and little boat was from the Graphics fairy it is a gorgeous picture..  I just knotted some twine to make it look a little like rope. I made 2 so I got to keep one for myself as its the first one thought that would be nice to keep as a reminder.

Here is the tag that I received in the mail from Judith it is just so lovely so many little elements, the water is just beautiful the texture of the waves is just wonderful.. Beautiful sentiment stamp across the top of the tag..  Love the image of the girl with that glorious hat. So glad I get to keep this little beauty, feel very lucky to be able to have this in my stash..  Will have to make something to hang them on..

So hope you liked my first ever tag and I am looking forward to doing the next 11 of them.
Have a great day
Sandy :)

Challenges 4 Everybody #12 DT

Well that fortnight went by so quick and its time for  Challenges 4 Everybody #10.
This week we are sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs They are giving away 4 free images to our randomly picked winner.  We would love to come and visit your blog and see your creation.  As always its everyone's favourite Anything goes..

This is such a nifty little way of standing your card up.. It is just scored in half and then in quarters and then you do the mountain fold so its an M.. To make the little legs, you punch the legs half way with the Stampin'up decorative label punch. Don't throw the bits away if you look I have used those punched bits on the card.   I blended some of the edges with Tim Holtz walnut stain. I have used such a mixture of items, its so good not to have to stick to one company to make things. I will try and tell you what it was that I used.
So here is my card....

Here it is flattened out..

The details...
Paper.......... Kaisercraft after 5 collection, pages from a book for the flowers
I was given the other grey paper (thanks Eliza) it is so pretty kind of sparkles.

WOYWW #189

I am making a couple of valentine cards so am surrounded by hearts so pretty..
Going through my stamps I am sadly lacking the word love isnt it funny how you can have all these sentiments and sometimes the simplest one you have missing.
Found one in my itty bitty words and that will do for what I am thinking of doing for this card..  As I am writing this (go over and have a check and yep) I just remembered that I did have the word love its in a long set of stamps and will just color it by itself.. Think that will work. Will still need to keep an eye out for a bigger one though.
So here is my desk...

Here is the card on my desk so you don't have to squint.. Have made another one in the same theme as this, still have to take photos of that one though..

I would like to welcome a new follower to my blog welcome Tammy. So happy you have joined in the fun.

Retro Sketches #46

I have enrolled in an online craft class and this is one of the techniques they showed.. You use a blending tool and a stencil and mask off areas of the card.. Well I had a lovely rose stencil. I used this weeks wonderful sketch from Retro Sketches and my favourite colors of Razzleberry and Old Olive.
I tried a new way of putting my bows on too under the brad and attached it that way thought it needed a little ribbon..  Used a little mister and added a little sparkle to the flower popped up the middle leaves to add a little dimension.. Was a fun technique and will be looking around for stencils now.. Always like a technique that  you can expand with what you already have.

So here is my card..

I would like to welcome 2 new followers to my little blog of cards, Judith and SiskiyouSue. So pleased that you have joined as a follower hope you find something to inspire you or just make you smile..

Retro Sketches #45

I was looking at the Retro Sketches blog and had to have a go at this weeks sketch. I so love to use washi tape and this is just the perfect sketch for that. So used my chicken wire stamp from Kaisercraft and my new Tim Holtz stamps.  2 of them that I have not inked up yet its always good to get new stamps inky. The ink was from Stampin'up chocolate chip. The lace is called Victoria also Stampin'up..
So here is my card..

I would like to welcome a new follower to my little blog of cards Lori, hope you take a peek around and pop in now and again to say hi..

WOYWW? #188

Hi all I have been shopping at my favourite place again and picked up a bargain..  A Le chateau value pack from Kaisercraft..  I will be having a lot of fun with these goodies I know my bird punches will be getting a bit of use in the next few days..  I have a new Tim Holtz die on order but needed the long plates to put them on the big shot, but they didn't have the other plastic bit so they had to order it in..
So here is my desk....

So you don't have to squint here is the card that's on my desk more info on it here

My son taught me how to put the little watermark on my pictures. He showed me how to do it in paint and it was really quite easy. He said it would be a lot easier to do it in there and I didn't need to buy anything to do it as its already on the computer.. He was very patient..

So that's it for me just off to pop around a few desks.. Have you joined in yet to have a peek around desks.  Make sure you have a cuppa ready before you venture into the wonderful world of Julia's Stamping Ground
Thanks for visiting my blog and all the lovely comments I enjoy reading every one..
